Had this light for a month. Used it one time until the battery ran down. Went to recharge it and the red light would not come on showing that it was charging. I feel the same way the other customer did. Very Expensive for a one time use flashlight

I followed the charging instructions and I used it one time then I put it away. When we had an emergency I got it out and nothing. It won't take a charge or turn on when pluged in. Very expencive for a onetime flashlight.

I have a bear problem and this light allows me to see them from a safe distance. I worry about recharge and battery damage without a control light. I wish that there was a holster or handle strap as light is difficult to store or carry.

The LEDs do an excellent job of lighting a large area clearly. My low rating has to do with the charging of the battery. The instruction sheet states that the battery has to be charged for 8 hours. When the charger is plugged in, a red light on the handle indicates that the battery is being charged. Unfortunately, this light does not turn off or change color when the battery is fully charged thus leaving you guessing. The instrucion sheet indicates that overcharging affects the life of the battery. Undercharging affects the time the LEDs will provide light. In my opinion, not knowing the status of the battery in such an expensive flashlight is a great shortcoming.

gave this light a great rating because it has an excellent overall package for a spotlight. The ergonomics of this light really set it appart from other spotlights out there. If you are looking for a spotlight you can get one of the "old school" incandecent style, which are very bright (most of the higher end ones would be brighter than this light) but only last for a matter of minutes, usually 25-40 minutes. This light really does work for more than 2 hours! And it puts out a tremendous amount of light for it's size and style. This newer type of spotlight (using multiple leds), is really the way to go. Not to be overlooked is the design of the body and handle, which work in harmony to offer several positions to stand the light in the direction you are looking to illuminate. This is another fine product that delivers across the board. The closest competitor to this light is made by Coleman, it is similar in that it also uses multiple leds for power, and the output and runtime are similar, however the ergonomisc of this Dorcy simply blow the Coleman away. The Coleman is top heavy and uncomfortable to hold after a while, and less appealing for smaller hands. Build quality is similar on both, but the Dorcy is less expensive. Watch the video here on the website, it will give you a good real world view of its powerful output and great throw.

II purchased this from Sears store in Madras the last week of Dec.2010. The instructions said to charge it before use. The mechanism I was suppose to push the charger end on was loose inside the spotlight area and could not be mated. I returned it to the store and got another for replacement. Took it home managed to get it charged. Tryed it out that evening. It produced a strong light, I was able to see clearly for at least 250 feet. At this time I was very pleased. Our power was to be cut off from 10:00 pm to 6:00am on Sat. for repair at the power plant, knowing I would need a flashlight I wanted to make sure mine was charged. I pulled the triger and it did come on, but did not stay on. I had to keep playing with the trigger. Thinking that it might need charging after setting for a month on the shelf, I drug out the little charger. Went to plug it into the flashlight and again the mechanism was loose inside the flashlight making it impossible. I returned it very disapointed, had it not had this problem I would have liked the light ver much.
